The Trinity Girls’ basketball team engages Chartiers Valley in their streak ending game.

On January 23, 2021, the Trinity girls’ basketball team won over Chartiers Valley, snapping the Colts’ winning streak at 64. With a final score of 49-42 in favor of the Hillers, it should be interesting to see where the basketball season goes from here.

We were ecstatic. There was lots of screaming and laughing in the locker room after the game. We lost to them in the WPIAL championship last year, so there was nothing more we wanted than to beat them and end their streak. We have worked so hard this season as a team, so for it to pay off in such a big way felt great,” Sophomore Eden Williamson explained.

The Trinity team managed to keep themselves ahead the entire game, with each quarter ending in their favor. Trinity led 11-7 after the first quarter, 27-21 after the second, and 36-28 after the third. As the game progressed, the girls began to slow down and hold the ball for longer possessions, successfully running down the clock and leaving Chartiers Valley with less time to recover points.

And it worked! When the final seconds ran off the clock, the Trinity Hillers became the first team to beat No. 1 ranked Chartiers Valley since 2018. All of their hard work and dedication to basketball had paid off.

Williamson stated, “I think we are really excited for the rest of the season. We work really hard in practice to make sure that we are prepared every time we step on the floor. We are definitely ready!”

As of February 11, the girls’ basketball team record is 11-1 for the 2020-21 season.
