February is American Heart Month, which is the perfect time to honor those that have struggled with heart disease. NHS members wore red on February 4 to raise awareness for this initiative.

This month, NHS will be finding a way to honor and appreciate healthcare workers. They are accepting items that express how great the local healthcare workers are at their jobs during this difficult time. An example of a donation for this month is a card that says “You are the heart of healthcare.” Similar options are welcome.

Rush also encouraged all members of NHS to wear red on the first Thursday of February for women’s heart health. She asked this because her mom passed away from heart complications, so she greatly appreciated the recognition. The day was a success.

In other news, Student Council is collecting items for the high school’s food pantry throughout February. All items can be turned in to Mrs. Frazee or Mrs. Thornburg.
