The boys’ lacrosse team has put up a fight so far this season, with a 5-3 record. With seven games left to go as of April 21, the boys have high expectations for the remainder of the season.
Senior Ben Priest comments on their end-of-season goals saying, “We’d like to get more wins and obviously win our section altogether.”
The team recently lost a big senior class, leaving big roles to be fulfilled by Captains David Gill and Priest, along with the rest of the upperclassmen.
The boys have a great dynamic with each other as they spend most of their time together, whether it’s at practice or games. Their schedule consists of practice 3-5 days a week, with a game or two thrown into the mix. The boys are constantly putting in hard work on and off the field to improve and have a successful team.
Aside from all the practice time put in, lacrosse is a big mentality sport. Not only do the boys need to have the talent, but they also need the mindset to grow as players.
Gill mentioned, “I’ve grown as a player because I’ve been more disciplined about the little things I do.”
This season, the team welcomed a large freshman class of 12 new players. As new talent joins the team, the dynamic grows better every year.
Priest stated, “We have a fun time, and it’s a great bond between the team. We have our holes, but we’ve been filling them.”
Not only did they bring on new players, the team is graduating senior players Joey Long, Hayden Stack, Seamus Coyle, Gill and Priest on senior night, taking place on May 4 at the TMS stadium.
So far, the 2026 season has been full of highs and lows for the boys. Two of the major highlights that stand out were the win against Seton LaSalle on April 9, and the win against West Allegheny on April 7.
The team is in a tough section this season but has pushed through and is on its way to many more wins. The next home game on April 23 against Gateway High School. Good luck with the rest of the season, Hillers!
