With the 2026 school year coming to an end, the boys’ volleyball team starts its 2026 season off on a high note with a record of 5-6 overall and 3-1 in the section as of April 21, 2026. The team has high hopes and expectations of continuing to play strongly, winning the rest of their games and making a deep playoff run.
Both the varsity and junior varsity teams consist of many talented players who share years of experience. The senior captains, Bryce Bailes and Travis McMullen, have been playing volleyball for a long time, both playing for four years. The captains take pride in leading their teammates to success, doing their best to maintain focus and high energy every time they step on the court.
The new season also brought new players this year, with the team welcoming them with open arms. The new players give their best effort, showing their focus and dedication. They bring more power to the attacking side of the game and provide an open environment for communication and chemistry. Every player has high expectations and contributes hard work, hoping for a great season.
Junior outside hitter Nate Muncie stated, “We’ve played a lot more like a team this year. We’re a lot more connected, and we’ve been able to bond much better.”
The team has a fair amount of competition. They are in a very good position, racking up wins for their team. They faced Canon McMillan on April 16, 2026. The game resulted in a Trinity win, with the team winning 3 sets and losing 1.
Most of the players’ time is spent putting in extra work, whether it is on their own or on the court, increasing the focus level during practice. All their hard work and time invested are shown as they continue to bring home win after win.
Junior outside hitter Jacob Lent stated, “At practice, we usually work on fundamentals like passing, hitting and serving. We usually also scrimmage each other.”
With new freshmen joining the team, many seniors are playing their last year of volleyball for Trinity. The team is graduating five seniors, Cooper Husman, Stephen Bryant, Javis Pugh and the two captains, Bailes and McMullen. The seniors continue to work and enjoy their last year, making sure to end it on a positive note.
Senior captain and setter, Bailes, stated, “I will miss the team and the sport in general because I think volleyball is really fun and the team has a close bond.”
The Hillers have been off to a great start this spring season and hope to keep the streak going as they progress through the section. Best of luck to the boys’ volleyball team this season!
