The girls’ softball team just recently kicked off the start to their season. After a successful 2025 season, the girls hope to bring home even more wins.
Last season, the team graduated a memorable senior class, leaving behind big shoes to be filled.
This year, the team has four seniors: Emma Star, Ally Krenzelak, Alexa Zawacki and Aliyah Johnson.
Their 2026 captains are Starr and Krenzelak, and several new freshmen have made the team, bringing even more talent to the plate.
Sophomore second baseman, Charlotte Hinkler, mentioned, “The advice I would give the upcoming freshmen would be to not let the small things get to you and to not get in your head.”
The upperclassmen take pride in leading their team to success. Not only are they acting as role models but they also have big responsibilities to fulfill each day.
Starr stated, “As an upperclassman we are expected to be role models to the underclassmen and build them up to be amazing players.”
The group of girls has a great connection and dynamic, which is shown every time they step foot on the field. Most of these girls have been playing together for years and have so much love for the sport.
Sophomore second baseman, Kaylee Danneker, added, “I would say our team is determined but also knows how to have a good time.”
Not only do they have fun, but the girls also put in hours of work every week to become the best they can be. Practices are daily, along with a few games a week. The group gets the opportunity to lift with Coach Rizor twice a week, which takes their game play to another level.
Aside from night games, the team also gets the chance to play in a few tournaments. Every year Trinity softball travels to Myrtle Beach to play in the Ripken week-long tournament; this year it took place March 13-18. Most players look forward to this tournament as it is a great bonding experience and brings so many unforgettable memories.
The team officially kicked off their season with a home scrimmage against Avonworth on March 10, 2026, and the girls secured a win. The team plays its next home game on April 1 against Connellsville. Good luck with the rest of the season, Hillers!
