Q: Why did you choose to come here to work?
A: Trinity is a wonderful place and my home. This is where I went to school and I have pride for my alma mater. It has a lot of great things going for it, and I am excited to bring my expertise here and make things even better.
Q: What is your job as an Athletic Director?
A: We do all the behind-the-scenes work within athletics. That means we mentor coaches, set up games and make sure everything is going well. We make sure that athletes have proper equipment and officials while also maintaining direct relationships with our athletes. We are there to support the avenues of every athlete, every sport and every coach.
Q: What are your plans for this school year?
A: Right now, everything for me is in the learning phase. I definitely have some big plans and I will propose in the spring for next year, such as infusing sports and activities in the school day to maximize more time for our athletes. The focus is on taking care of all athletes as much as we can, which means advocating for each sport and making sure everyone is getting sufficient athletic center development time.
Q: How does Trinity stand out from other places you’ve worked?
A: I think Trinity is on the brink of doing really great things, and our coaches and student-athletes are truly solid as well. It’s one of those things where we have to ask “How do we make that next step?” and I believe that I can bring that athletic expertise that we really need.
Q: What is a good memory of Trinity you’ve had so far?
A: In the first two weeks I was here, we hung two banners, one for unified bocce and one for the football championships. This is a program in motion, not one that needs a complete turnaround or rebuilt. Seeing athletes and activites succeed is just a positive vibe all around.
Q: How did you end up on this career path?
A: Sports have been a part of my life, my entire life. I’ve played and coached sports such as football, baseball, basketball, hockey and a variety of others. It was about nine years ago when I was the head football coach for a school in Texas and received the role as athletic director as well. I really enjoyed my role there because I’ve always been passionate about sports, as well as supporting kids and coaches. It’s all about the natural passion.
Q: Where did you previously work?
A: I’ve been in Texas for the past 20 years, working at Schools such as Lake Travis High school and Georgetown High School.
Q: What are some of your accomplishments as an athletic director?
A: I’ve grown programs from starting wrestling programs to infusing sports activities into the regular class day. I’ve hired and mentored coaches of the year, coached many pro-athletes, and have helped lead a football team to four state championships. On top of all of that, I have helped turn three programs around for the better and have won multiple state awards.
Q: How do you feel about your job as an athletic director?
A: I feel awesome about giving back to kids and making their experience as good as it can possibly be. I feel that passion for helping kids succeed in their niche and helping coaches deliver their best efforts. I take joy in kids being successful in their sports and activities.
Q: Anything else you would like to add?
A: It’s a great day to be a Hiller!
