  • What is your position on “The Hiller”?

I am currently the Feature Editor of The Hiller.

  • How long have you been on staff and why did you join?

I took journalism 1 as a sophomore, and I have been on staff for two years. I joined because I have always had an interest in writing. I always used to read The Hiller newspaper, and I could see myself doing the same thing.

  • What has been your favorite article you’ve written and why?

My favorite article was probably “Sign of the Times: Why 2022 was Harry Styles’s golden year.” I couldn’t believe that I was allowed to write it! It was so fun to research a topic that myself and so many others in our school are interested in.

  • What are your plans after graduation?

I plan on attending the University of Virginia to study neuroscience and bioethics. Go Hoos!

  • What will you miss most about “The Hiller”?

I will most miss the family that we’ve created. Publishing the newspaper is a huge team effort, and I am so thankful for the people that have supported me and allowed me to grow.

  • What is the most important lesson you have learned from being in journalism?

I’ve learned the importance of having confidence both in journalism and other parts of my life. Knowing that people are reading the articles that I’ve put so much time and effort into is the scariest part of the whole process, but The Hiller has taught me to believe in myself and my abilities.

  • What is your favorite memory while writing for “The Hiller”?

Probably publishing the 2022 Senior Issue because the seniors were so sad to be leaving The Hiller but so excited to begin the next chapter of their lives, and I am excited to experience that as well.

  • How many red pens do you think Mrs. O’Lare has gone through grading your articles?

Wait, the pen is red?

  • How has Mrs. O’Lare impacted/inspired you while writing for “The Hiller”?

Mrs. O’Lare has impacted my journey in so many ways, so much more than just journalism. To keep it brief, she has taught me the importance of perseverance and determination. The compassion that she shows toward her students is something that I hope to emulate throughout my own life, and I am so thankful for her guidance during these last few years.

  • What is your favorite Trinity lunch meal?

General Tso’s. 100%.

  • Anything you would like to add? Anything you would like to say to the rest of the staff?

Thank you to everyone who reads the newspaper; we appreciate you more than you know. Seniors, thank you for all of the happy memories – I’m going to miss every one of you. Underclassmen, you’re in charge now and I’ll still be reading every issue! I love you all!
