Disney World began decorating for its anniversary during the summer so that it would be ready for the start of the celebration in October.

Starting October 1, 2021, Walt Disney World began celebrating its long-awaited 50th anniversary with an 18-month long celebration full of “magical” experiences lasting a lifetime. Here’s what The Most Magical Place on Earth has to offer at each of their four parks:

Epcot

Epcot has expanded their pavilion in France to serve up the latest attraction, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which is based on Pixar’s 2007 Academy Award-winning film “Ratatouille.” In this attraction, guests will “shrink” to the size of a rat and scurry through Gusteau’s famous restaurant. A new restaurant has also been included, called La Crêperie de Paris, which features sweet crepes and savory buckwheat galettes.

Animal Kingdom

A new daytime entertainment has taken flight at Animal Kingdom called “Disney KiteTails.” This show features performers flying wind catchers and kites of all shapes and sizes. They will depict iconic animal friends such as Simba, Baloo and many others. These colorful creations will dance through the sky to favorite Disney songs for a full experience.

Hollywood Studios

Although Hollywood Studios will not be having any special events in comparison to the other parks, it will feature a new hotel that will connect into the park through Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge called StarWars: Galactic Starcruiser. This is a new, immersive two night hotel experience where Star Wars fans partake in various activities throughout the day as if they were actually in the Star Wars universe. StarWars: Galactic Starcruiser is planning to open March 1, 2022, but reservations are now available.

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom’s iconic landmark, Cinderella’s Castle, has been decked out with over 113 decorative pieces and a 50th anniversary crest as part of its royal makeover. There are also 50th anniversary banners throughout the entire park. Beloved characters such as Mickey, Minnie and friends are dressed for the occasion with celebratory designs based on Cinderella’s Castle. To top it off, Magic Kingdom has a new nighttime spectacular, “Disney Enchantment,” featuring music, enhanced lighting, stunning fireworks and immersive projection effects that extend from Cinderella’s Castle down to Main Street, U.S.A.

All Park Features

All four of the parks will be featuring fifty golden statues debuting a collection of characters called the “Disney Fab 50.” Guests are able to interact with them as part of the 50th anniversary celebration. In addition, each theme park’s  iconsCinderella’s Castle, Hollywood Hotel Tower, Tree of Life and the Epcot ballwill light up in iridescent colors at night.

If traveling to Disney World to enjoy this magical experience isn’t possible this year, people still can celebrate its 50th anniversary at home. Disney+ added an anniversary special to the Disney Parks category on their streaming service. Additionally, be sure to check out their 50th Anniversary special merchandise collection on their website at shopdisney.com and join in on the celebration.
