Not just for growing the season’s crop, corn mazes are a popular fall activity for many. Though some are easy, others are not for the faint at heart. Would you make it through?

Some may believe corn mazes are just a fun-at-the farm activity. But for others, it is quite the opposite. A Blues Clues of the corn, an extreme corn maze-ist rounds the hundreds of turns in search of the correct ones, peers over and beyond the high rows of corn, and with a racing heart, flies around others to finish the maze first. Just imagine, 100 ways to complete the maze, a ticking time clock, and stalks of corn taller than 8 feet– this lifestyle is not for everyone.

Extreme corn mazes can be as large as 60 acres of land, such as the world’s biggest corn maze, Cool Patch Pumpkins in Dixon, California. This maze is so large and serious that participants must be 18 or supervised by someone who is. Don’t be the family who had to call 911 due to underestimating the corn.

Now not all of us can navigate corn mazes like an extreme corn maze-ist, but there are plenty of corn mazes near us that won’t require such precision.

A top rated corn maze in Mercer, PA,  the Coolspring Corn Maze, challenges ontakers to bear the winding paths of the Pokemon Trail and get through the giant puzzle. If not too exhausted, hop aboard a wagon for a hayride, check out the indoor hay maze, or go on a pony ride.

A night time maze option, the Corn Maze at Lonesome Valley Farms Valley of Terror, Greensburg, is the perfect Saturday night activity.

Trax and Simmon’s Farms offer relatively difficult, but family friendly, corn mazes. After completing each maze, don’t forget to pick a pumpkin from the orange-filled patches.

If you think those mazes are too corny, discover more than eight miles of trails across 25 acres of the corn maze at Wilcox Farms in Boyertown, PA. The intricate corn maze is composed of smaller corn mazes that will challenge you at every turn.

Whether a “master of the maize”  or wandering endlessly through, there are plenty of great options in our area that will be sure to leave you with a memory of an a-maiz-ing time.
