Trinity football is back with fans in stands
The Trinity High School football team is back for the 2021-2022 season at the Trinity Middle School football field. Going to football games is quite the tradition at Trinity, and the fan section can often be found crowded. However, because of COVID-19, there were no fans allowed last year. Each student was only allowed to bring two family members to each game. Now that it has been a year since the pandemic started, some restrictions have been lifted. Fans are now allowed back in the stands, and people are quite thrilled.
Senior Hunter Strickland is one of the many football players ecstatic that they are back.
“It feels great to have fans back. Our school spirit was lacking the past two years due to COVID-19, but I believe that this year we were able to help build up the school spirit and hopefully continue doing so through the remainder of the season,” said Strickland.
So far the season is off to a rocky start, but Senior Connor Roberts, the starting quarterback, thinks it will get better soon.
“I feel like this season is off to a slow start and we have underperformed in some games, but I have a good feeling now that we have entered conference play,” stated Roberts.
Although many of the players probably have their own goals, one seems to be in common.
“Our goal for the season is to make it to the playoffs and win some postseason games,” explained Junior Ty Banco.
Football is a sport that has many commitment aspects, one of which being the time commitment. They have to practice six days each week from July to November.
“The hardest thing about football is commitment. Every day you have to come with a positive attitude and be ready to work. As Coach Miller says, you have to submit to the teachings. We have to take what the coaches teach us to do and apply that to every practice and every game,” expressed Strickland.
The team has been working hard during practices and games, but coming up short in the games so far this season. Their next game will be on Friday, October 15 at Belle Vernon.
