With graduation around the corner, senior Zach Schrader is getting ready to move on to bigger things. At Trinity, Schrader is a starting pitcher for the Trinity baseball team. He has been a starting pitcher for most of his time at the high school.
Junior Asher Donley said, “He’s been a good inspiration. All of the pitchers look up to him.”
Schrader leads Trinity’s pitching staff as their Ace pitcher. Schrader will continue his pitching career at Point Park University upon graduation.
Schrader has not only been an inspiration to the younger players but also to his own coaches.
Coach Stanek said, “I loved coaching him. I loved watching him grow into our Ace. I enjoyed being a part of his journey. Watching him grow through the years is what coaching is all about.”
Schrader started his journey on JV and worked hard throughout his time at Trinity, making his way to lead the Hillers’ pitching.
Stanek said, “Zach’s time has been great. Started on JV and I knew he was going to be great. Not only that, but he’s a great leader and an even better person. He’s an inspiration to us here because he shows that hard work pays off, and if you set your mind to something, it can be achieved. He’s always been working hard and shows that practice makes perfect.”
Words from his coaches and teammates have shown that he has been a big inspiration to the Hiller baseball team. Schrader has taught the younger players the same thing he lives by.
Donley said, “Zach taught me how to be a better teammate and put the team first. He’s a great leader, he leads by example, and that’s what I think makes him great.”
Schrader also does a lot outside of Trinity. He is a photographer and works with the Roberto Clemente Foundation, which helps less fortunate children in the Pittsburgh area.
Schrader said, “The Roberto Clemente foundation is about helping kids in Pittsburgh and Puerto Rico through events, food drives, and stuff like that.”
The foundation has helped over 10,000 kids across America and Puerto Rico. The foundation has helped build baseball fields, give kids baseball equipment and give them food when they may not be able to afford it. Along with feeding the kids, the foundation has given meals to veterans as well.
Schrader also has done a good amount of work in photography. He started a couple of years ago and has made a name for himself in the Pittsburgh area.
Schrader said, “One of my best friends, Joey Shubal, got a camera and I saw it and wanted to start making content myself.”
Shrader has had many great opportunities in the Pittsburgh sports world as he has gotten the opportunity to photograph multiple sports games in Pittsburgh, which has led him to creating his own photography business, “724 Productions.” Because of that, Schrader has changed since freshman year at Trinity.
Schrader stated, “Since freshman year I’ve grown many connections with the Pirates, Steelers and other teams.”
He has gotten the opportunity to photograph Steelers training camp, Pittsburgh Panthers games and Pirates games.
However, Schrader said that “My favorite experience with photography was working with the Clemente foundation and helping less fortunate kids.”
Schrader has always been that way in his time at Trinity. He has always been thinking about others and it shows.
He shared, “I’d tell the younger classes to keep working hard and stick with whatever you’re working with.”
Schrader leaves Trinity with a legacy that won’t be forgotten and he definitely has great things ahead.
