After years of trying to stand out in their section, the Trinity hockey team has launched a highly successful season. With a 7–4 record, the players are finally seeing their hard work pay off as they rack up wins, and even they admit this year feels different.
Senior captain Seamus Coyle has led the team all season, helping the Hillers grow remarkably close—and successful. With the older players’ encouragement and guidance, being an aspiration for the freshman team is a significant milestone in their success.
Freshman forward Henry Coyle said, “Upperclassmen like my brother, Seamus, have been great. They’ve really shown me and my teammates what it’s like to be a leader and a great player.”
In most sports, seniority is a big factor in the team’s trajectory, with coaches often relying more on seniors or veteran players than on underclassmen or rookies. This team’s upperclassmen see interacting with the underclassmen as the key to winning this season. They’re not just leading on the ice but also building relationships with the younger players to make them confident and prepared in the craft to contribute to the team.
This year, the team is hoping to rally and make the playoffs—a goal that feels more attainable than ever. A talented freshman class has played a key role in the turnaround, boosting both morale and point production. Coyle alone has scored 19 points in the first 11 games of the season.
With practice every Sunday at 7 p.m., the Hillers will continue to pour their energy into securing that spot. Fans can support them on February 10, 2026, when they take on Burrell at Printscape Arena at 9 p.m.
