Hillers ready to run out on the field, building up their energy from the crowd.

The game is about to start, and the fans can hear the shouting of the football players getting hyped up in the locker room. The players run out behind the huge flag and the fans, the band, and the cheerleaders go wild. This is what Friday night football is at the Hiller Stadium.
Coached by Mr. Miller, the Trinity Hillers have high hopes this season. One of the goals for this season, which was shared by several players, is to make it to the postseason.
“A goal for us this year would be to make it to the playoffs,” said Junior Jeremy Sikora.
Before every game, the Hillers have to get each other full of energy and ready to play by listening to music. Right before the game starts, the boys all pray together as a team.
Unfortunately in football, an injury is not rare. Recently, Drew Cain tore his ACL while playing the first game against Ringgold, he is out for the season. Cain inspires his teammates and was named by most as one of the most inspiring leaders of the team.
“Our best leader is Drew Cain, he gets us hyped up and builds up energy for the team. His injury inspires us to play hard and play as a team,” said Sophomore Anderson Newlen.
COVID-19 has taken a toll on all school-related activities this year. At football games, only a certain amount of parents are allowed to sit in the stands. Not having a fan section lowers the overall energy of the crowd; it’s seen as a disadvantage to all high school football teams across the country.
Sophomore Ty Banco said the worst part about COVID-19 during football season is “not having a fan section to cheer us on and give us energy.”
This year, Trinity plays Wash High, one of Trinity’s rival schools on October 9 at Hiller Field. It has been 20 years since these teams last met to play, and many are looking forward to renewal of this city football game.  This is what the boys are most looking forward to because most of them have never played against them before.
The 2020 football season for the Trinity Hillers will be one to remember, the boys are still very excited to play this year and will hopefully reach their goals.
