Every year, Trinity High School hosts the District Art Show, where students showcase their artwork they’ve made both throughout the school year and years prior. Everyone, elementary, middle and high school students, are invited to put their art in the show and share it with the public.
Trinity High School Art Teacher Mrs. Restaneo explains, “My goal every year at the high school is to display at least one work of art from every student taking an art class. Occasionally, a student will prefer to not display any of their works; however, more often students will display several works! Middle School and Elementary School display a minimum of one artwork per student.”
All of these artworks allow for plenty of different people to experience beautiful works by local students and allow creative minds to express themselves.
Sophomore artist Brielle Line expresses, “The Art Show is a great place to come to meet artists, share ideas with others and get inspired! If you’re an artist looking for ideas for your next work, the Art Show is the perfect place to be. If you’re not an artist, there is still so much to do and create. There’s a screen printing station, a slime station and many many more!”
The activities at the Art Show are another great attraction to many who want to further explore different art mediums. There will be facepainting, screen printing, slime making and concessions. All of these activities will be run by volunteers from two clubs that focus on art: Art Club and National Art Honors Society, or NAHS.
Line says, “I’m going to be doing face painting and helping out with the slime station.”
There will be a section specifically for members of the National Art Honors Society to display their artwork while showing the pride they have for their club, and senior artists will also get their own tables to show off their work and progression.
Officer of Art Club and senior member of NAHS, Joslyn Laberdee explains, “I don’t have any drawing classes this year but I have lots to share from previous years as well as my Ceramics 3 projects from this semester. I have past drawing 1-3 projects, Design 1 projects, and Ceramic 1 and 2 projects to feature.”
Other students who do not take part in any clubs geared toward art or are not seniors also have plenty of artwork that could be put into the art show, with Restaneo explaining, “The ceramic projects are always a fan favorite as well as the elementary sculpture projects. This year high school students made some amazing wire figures that will be displayed.
The Art Show is important to many artists in the school district who want people to see their art that they work hard on to share with others. It can also be important to seniors that want to pursue art, showing off their talent and skill level.
Laberdee expresses, “The Art Show can inspire people to want to come up with their own, new ideas for anything they would like to do for future careers. Being creative is a very important skill no matter what you choose to do!”
This year, the Art Show is on Saturday, May 2, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Anyone who is interested in taking part in many fun activities and seeing art from all ages should drop by to check out the Trinity Area School District’s Art Show.
