Eighth-grade move-up night is an event that has taken place at Trinity High School almost every year. It’s an assembly that parents and eighth-grade students go to so they can get information on the high school and what to expect as freshmen. This year it was held on February 19, 2026.
Trinity High School’s counseling staff holds the event along with many other faculty members. The staff answers any questions the parents or students have for the following year on scheduling, academics and graduation opportunities. There is also time to go to the cafeteria and speak to select core subject teachers and extracurriculars.

Mrs. Amaismeier, a school counselor, states, “Trinity does a great job preparing eighth graders to pick meaningful courses and electives. Move up night is just one step during that process.”
Not only are teachers and staff there to offer a helping hand to new students who might be lost or have questions about the school, but move-up night also addresses what the high school experience may look like.
“We walked around the school and got to know where my classes all are,” said Freshman Nickolas Szallar.
Trinity School District offers an abundance of classes, clubs and programs for students’ futures, which are discussed during this event. Move up Night is an excellent way to receive extra information regarding the eighth graders’ transition to high school. Other than that, it is great that the students have a chance to walk around the school to look at all their classes on their own as well as get the information they need.
