Looking to transform a 2025 wardrobe into a 2026 wardrobe? Consider this a helping hand. As most fashion enthusiasts know, last year will be held accountable for its many stylish fads and remarkable trends. But what might next year have in store for us? 2025 was packed with different trendy patterns that had everyone on a bandwagon.
Sophomore Stephanie Drezewski states, “Camo, polka dots, and cheetah print were probably the most popular patterns of 2025.”
Patterns seemed to come easily into the 2025 fashion, and Drezewski also holds opinions on what the new patterns of 2026 might look like: “I’ve been seeing deer print all of a sudden, and I also think elegant plaids are going to make a comeback this year.”
Deer print has been rising during the end of 2025 for a chill winter look, with brands such as Burberry, Maguire and Proenza Schoeler producing bags, heels and coats that mimic the fawn look. As the cool weather fades, a new animal print will probably come into play. The mature days of tortoise shell print and black leather are over, and prints like speckled quail eggs and pheasant plumage with their blues, emeralds and coppers will show up, adding a layer of whimsy to everyday outfits.
Junior Brynn Tomey shares, “I could see some themes from the 2000s coming back. Carrie Bradshaw, a character from a popular show set in New York City, is a good example of what I think will become popular.”
For men’s fashion, styles have been moving away from streetwear and toward a more put-together look.
“Quarter zips will continue to be in style, but it will become less flashy and lean more old school. I could see a classic 70s old-man type of wardrobe getting popular this coming year,” said best dressed senior superlative, Ryder Nguyen.
Trend following is easy to do, but how can a fashionista figure out what style is right for them?
“Browsing Pinterest and following influencers on social media that you look up to for advice/outfit tips seemed to help me find my style,” Tomey claims.
Many sources online are pointing to a mod revival, bringing back the sixties with a modern take. Pastel mint, lemon and blush would accompany this trend as well as polka dots, lace and frilly socks. This pairs well with the florals that will probably begin to pop up again as well. These point toward a retro and irresistibly fun year of fashion, both designer and commercial.
“I think crazy makeup to match outfits will become popular, Lululemon will stay trendy, and unfortunately, skinny jeans will make their return,” predicts Drezewski.
No matter what happens with trends this coming year, it is sure to change rapidly, like it has for the past couple years. To maintain sustainable shopping habits, create habits like being mindful of personal preferences and not following every little fleeting microtrend.
