Rain, go away?
When does soil get rich? When Mother Nature makes it rain. Your day could be rich too – rain doesn’t have to cloud a perfectly good day. With Spring springing in, rainy days are sure to become more frequent. Though it can be quite the burden for outside adventures and chalk drawings, it enables us to entertain something different than what we would ordinarily pursue.
The age-old question remains: what is the best way to spend a rainy day?
As someone who loves interaction, I like to keep moving, be busy, and spend time with others. Of course, my favorite rainy day activity is to whip out the Monopoly board for a passionate competition. Not only does it keep my family busy for a few hours, it is also very interactive and is sure to create some good laughter – and maybe a flipped board or two. After all, a little touch of chaos is what makes life interesting.
Going outside to embrace the rain is always an option, too! I say a little dance in the rain never hurt anyone. Grab your favorite dance partner, maybe even your dog, take your socks off and rumba in the rain. Obviously, everyone needs to have danced in the rain and had their Notebook rain scene at least once.
If eager to get out of the house and still run through the raindrops, pop open an umbrella and visit a local movie theater, paint and sip event, bowling alley, gym or restaurant. Whether it is chili today or hot tamale, Mexican food has a way of brightening up the dreariest of days.
For someone who prefers a quieter or more relaxing day at home, perhaps watching a good movie and making popcorn, reading a book, or cleaning would be pleasant options. If into binge-watching shows, maybe try the second season of Bridgerton that recently aired.
A sweet choice, try baking or cooking something delicious, the whole family will appreciate the outcome. Trying to make a pizza from scratch and channeling your inner “That’s Amore” vibes can be fun. If feeling wild, try making something normally ordered from a restaurant; Caprese crepes are very tasty and easy to make. Pro tip: do not ruin your mom’s favorite nonstick pan, (not that I have done that or anything) but hypothetically of course, the crepes won’t be appreciated as much.
Rain doesn’t have to be a pain, there are many ways to spend a day and it never hurts to try something new and exciting. Get out there and make a splash!
