The Steelers logo represents decades of history in the Pittsburgh area. The yellow diamond stands for coal, the red for iron ore, and the blue for steel scraps.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have an overall record of eleven wins and two losses as of Sunday December 13, 2020.  They stood tall as the only undefeated team in the NFL, until their loss against the Washington Football Team at Heinz Field tainted their record.

According to Keith Butler, Defensive-Coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers, in an interview with ESPN, “There’s no SEC vs. the MAC or anything like that in the National Football League, you’re gonna play against good teams every week, it doesn’t matter what their record is.”

The Steelers lost a huge asset, Bud Dupree, during the game on Wednesday December 2, 2020. Dupree is currently out for the season after tearing his ACL in the game against the Baltimore Ravens.

In this game, the Steelers managed to pull through with a win; but this win wasn’t satisfactory for the coaching staff.

“We can’t keep having these conversations every week because one of these weeks we’ll be doing it with an ‘L’ if we’re not careful,” said Head-Coach Mike Tomlin in an interview with Sports-Center.

The ‘L’, so to speak, was named on Monday December 7, 2020. The Washington Football Team ended Pittsburgh’s winning streak of eleven consecutive games.

The Steelers remain first in the AFC North conference. They are tied with the Kansas City Chiefs of the AFC West conference with the same amount of wins and losses.

“I don’t think we’ve even come close to playing our best football game. Offensively, I don’t think we are playing as well as the potential that we could be. That’s encouraging that we can, one, rely on our defense, and we can still win football games not playing at our best. If we were playing our best football right now, then I would be a little bit more concerned,” said Offensive-Coordinator Randy Fitchner in an interview with ESPN.

Aside from wins and losses, Ben Roethelisburger is currently being considered for MVP  in the NFL. He remains at number five, below four other top-tier competitors in the NFL. The only other Steelers player to be awarded MVP is retired Quarterback, Terry Bradshaw, in 1978.

The Steelers have also acquired six new players: Chase Claypool, Alex Highsmith, Anthony McFarland, Kevin Dotson, Antoine Brooks Jr. and Carlos Davis, who all made their debut this season. This “new blood,” as Tomlin called it, could be a huge reason why the Steelers have such a heavy wins to losses ratio this season.

Pittsburgh has one more upcoming game this month; the game will be played on December 27, 2020 against the Indianapolis Colts at Heinz Field.
