This season for the Trinity boys’ golf team has been highly successful and exciting, continuing a tradition of excellence that the team has built over the years. This year, the team has made significant strides forward in their impressive advancement to the playoffs, where they secured the coveted number two seed.
The team had secured this spot in their division for the tournament, just falling short in their last match for the victory. Three individual golfers qualified for the WPIAL tournament on their own: Seniors Ryan Walther and Brock Carrigan, and Freshman Lucas Daniels. Walther and Daniels were both able to make it to the second round.
“The team’s growth over the season is easily recognizable just from how some of them would get upset and feel like it was the end of the world if they didn’t do well on one hole and nearly giving up, to now persevering and trying their absolute best on the next hole to make up for it,” Rhodes explains.
One of the newest members of the team, Daniels, has played a crucial role in this year’s team.
In addition to qualifying for the WPIAL championship, he demonstrated his talent and dedication, and he has been a tremendous asset to the team’s overall performance.
Daniels shares his thoughts on the season, saying, “The team has definitely grown this year from being more efficient together to bringing our score down lower each match.”
As the season comes to a close, the Hiller boys were able to finish with an impressive 7-5 record for the year.
Rhodes states, “It’s been an amazing thing to see the pairing of the underclassmen and upperclassmen during practices and how that later reflects on the course during crucial moments throughout the season.”
The team is hopeful and excited for next season and confident they can bring it home for Trinity.
