As the 2025 school year progresses, the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams’ seasons are coming to an end. The teams had high hopes to improve their speed and set personal records this year.
Both the boys’ and the girls’ cross country teams have many skilled runners with years of experience and knowledge. Captains, Junior Devin Junko and Seniors Andy Ciampa, Cicely Sunseri and Maddy Tuttle, all of whom have been running for years, are thrilled to lead the team this season. The captains thrive on keeping focus at all times and enforcing rules while also encouraging their teammates and providing a positive environment.
Sophomore Abby Papson stated, “The upperclassman I look up to the most has to be Maddy Tuttle because she’s always positive and energetic.”
A new school year brings new members as the teams welcome seven freshmen. The five freshmen on the girls’ team and the two freshmen on the boys’ team are spoken highly of for doing their job as instructed at practices and for setting a good example when representing the team. The members all have high expectations for them to finish off strong.
As the teams welcome the new members with open arms, the teams’ dynamics begin to change. The tasks given to the new members when becoming a part of the teams increase the importance of accountability and leadership from the captains.
Sunseri stated, “The team’s dynamic has changed for sure but definitely for the better. We have 5 freshmen this year.”
The teams have tough competition as they have to face many different schools at each meet. Both teams have big goals and show major signs of improvement and dedication. The captains’ guidance inspires the members, whether it’s at practice or at a meet.
Junko stated, “The main goal and focus this season is to try our best and to place in States.”
The teams never fail to represent Trinity positively and they constantly strive to become better versions of themselves and accomplish great things.
Both teams have had a great fall season and hope it continues as they wrap up. Congratulations to both the boys’ cross country and the girls’ cross country teams on their great season!
