With the start of the new school year, the boys’ soccer team kicked off their 2025 season on a high note with a record of 6-4 as of September 25, 2025. The players have high hopes of making it through the WPIAL playoffs and bringing home the big win for the first time in six years.
Both varsity and junior varsity teams have many talented players with years of experience and skill. Senior Captains Colin Reihner and John Garcia, both of whom have been playing for around fifteen years, are thrilled to lead their team to victory this season. The captains take pride in leading their teammates to success as they take over pre-game warm-ups, while also doing their best to maintain focus and high energy levels every time they step onto the field.
A new season also brings new players as the team welcomes eight new freshmen. In fact, three of them, Jaxson Gillis, JT Kearns and Noah White, are seeing varsity playing time and doing their job as instructed at practices. The players have high expectations for themselves, hoping to have a successful season.
Junior centerback Camden Proudfit stated, “I think the season will go well. We have a good team and a good lineup, but we lost a big senior class.”
As the new players are welcomed, the team’s dynamic begins to change. Trinity recently graduated a large group of seniors on the team, leaving significant roles to be filled. Not only did the team gain new freshmen, but they have also picked up a few upperclassmen along the way.
Reihner said, “The dynamic has definitely changed as we have two freshmen that start, and they have been good with cleaning up at practices.”
The team has less competition now that the section has decreased in the amount of teams, but they still have a reputation to uphold. They recently faced their section rival, Ringgold, on September 4, 2025. They brought home the victory with a score of 4-1. The scorers for the game were Juniors Cooper Cincinnati, Brady Anderson and Jacob Wright, racking up goals.
Reihner and Garcia both have many goals for the team this fall season. The main goals for the boys are to remain attentive, advance to the playoffs and secure a win for the Hillers.
Garcia mentioned, “This season’s goals are to make the playoffs and win.”
Most of the players’ time is spent putting in the extra work, whether it is in the sports facility lifting with Coach Rizor or on the field getting extra reps in during practice. Not only do they put the time and effort in during the season, but the boys also begin these practices early over the summer along with attending college camps. All the hard work and time invested is shown as soon as they step onto the field, representing Trinity, as they bring home win after win.
The Hillers have been off to a great start this fall season and hope to keep the streak going as they progress through the section. Best of luck to the boys’ soccer team this season!
