Following a long stretch of rigorous practices and competitive matches, the 2025 season for Trinity High School’s girls’ tennis team is coming to a close.
Their season began in August and ran all the way through October. The team’s schedule consists of daily practices after school that run from 3-5 p.m., aside from match days when they do not practice. Their practices are designed to not only sharpen individual and team skills, but also to enhance physical condition, strategic understanding and overall preparation for peak performance on match days.
Growing the bond between teammates and maintaining a positive attitude through it all is always one of the team’s main objectives. This season’s team captains are Seniors Faith Hohn and Aaliyah Emery, along with Junior Vittoria Emerich. The captains play a big role in the practices’ atmosphere, leading players to think highly of the sport and feeling proud that they get to be a part of it.
Junior Brooke Lindsay, who is new to the sport, comments, “It’s been a fun time. All the girls are very welcoming. I’m happy that I took the opportunity I had to join this team and wasn’t scared because I love our coaches and the players we have.”
The team always lands in a tough division. Upper St. Clair and Peter’s Township were the girl’s most challenging competitors this season.
The girls’ coaches, Mr. Stoner and Mrs. Platek, have been working hard with the team. Their focus on refining technique, building mental toughness and fostering team spirit has played a crucial part in preparing the players to compete confidently and consistently on the court.
Several underclassmen have already shown strong progress in their technique and match play. With continued practice and experience, they’re expected to make a significant impact in the seasons ahead.
“The girls are doing well, I’m excited to see how much the underclassmen on the team will improve in the upcoming seasons. There is a lot of potential,” claims Platek.
With promising seasons ahead for the girls’ tennis team, be sure to show support when they return to the courts next year. Good luck next season, Hillers!
