What is your position on “The Hiller”?
I am the Editor-in-Chief and the News Editor.
How long have you been on the staff, and why did you decide to join?
I have been on staff since my sophomore year, so three years in Journalism. One of my friends who was a past staff member told me about it, and she knew that I liked to write, so I joined the year that she became Editor-in-Chief, and we got to work together for a year. From there, it became the favorite part of my school day.
Which article was your favorite and why?
I liked my senior editorial. It let me do a lot of reflection about the past 13 years. I had a really easy time writing it.
How has being a part of “The Hiller” impacted you?
For starters, I’ve become a better writer. I’ve made some of my best friends and I feel like I’ve learned how to be a leader. I’m grateful for it.
What is your favorite memory of “The Hiller” throughout your time on staff?
Every time Dresden would come in here and just dazzle Mrs. O’Lare with some crazy dance, it just got me. She came in one day, jumped into a split and left with a bruise on her knee.
What is your best piece of advice for staff members?
Be kind to yourself and give yourself grace. Mistakes happen, you live and you learn. You’re not perfect, so dont expect yourself to be.
How many times do you think Mrs. O’Lare facepalmed at something you said?
More than I realize. Ignorance is bliss.
Do you have anything else to add?
I love you all!
