What is your position in “The Hiller?”
Staff Writer.
How long have you been on staff, and why did you decide to join?
This is my first year on the newspaper. I joined so I could get more practice writing, and so I could be more involved with school news.
Which article was your favorite and why?
My favorite article is probably “Attitudes toward Christmas change in modern America.” I had a couple of really sweet interviews, and the research I did was really interesting. I’m probably proudest of how that one turned out.
How has being a part of “The Hiller” impacted you?
I know more about what’s going on at school. It’s also helped me with my social anxiety because it forced me to talk to a lot of people I otherwise wouldn’t have. I had a lot of meaningful conversations with people across the school through my interviews and the newspaper.
What is your favorite memory of “The Hiller” throughout your time on staff?
I enjoyed the Christmas party this year. Everyone was in good spirits.
What is your best piece of advice for the staff members?
Not everything you do has to be perfect. Do your best with what energy and resources you have, but be kind to yourself if it doesn’t work exactly how you wanted.
How many times do you think Mrs. O’Lare facepalmed at something you said?
Probably a handful of times when I wasn’t looking. She was nice enough not to look too exasperated when I was watching.
Do you have anything else to add?
Best wishes to everyone graduating in 2025!
