At Trinity, there are choir members, band members and their leaders. Senior Leah Falvo is all three.
“I am in the marching band, concert band, chamber choir, Tri-M society, Shirley Tempos Acapella Troupe, Jazz band, Trinity’s Top 25 and also theatre up until this year. I am the Drum Major for the marching band and the president of the chamber choir, Tri-M and Shirley Tempos,” shared Falvo.
Since the age of seven, Falvo has been involved in music and took piano lessons until her freshman year, which kick-started her interest in music. In fourth grade, she also began playing the clarinet after being inspired by her dad to join the marching band.
Falvo stated, “My dad and his dad were both band directors, so music has always run in the family. I started theatre and choir in 7th grade, and I immediately fell in love!”
Throughout the middle and high school musicals, she’s taken on the roles of Little Red Riding Hood, young Anna, Elsa Schroeder and more. Along with the musical, she’s been in marching band since ninth grade and has greatly enjoyed being involved.
She decided, “My favorite music-based activity would have to be marching band because it has always been a part of my life. Getting to grow and experience football games and competitions with my friends has always been an amazing experience.”
Falvo also had the honor to be the head of a student-run club, the Shirley Tempos Acapella Troupe, where she got to put together performances and lead fundraisers for the club. Being part of the marching band and other musical groups at school has taught her useful lessons and made her the person she is today.
“It has taught me how to handle many different responsibilities and be a leader, along with influencing me to help people in any way I can at all times,” reflected Falvo.
Falvo is excited to be continuing on with her musical interests in college, saying, “I am going to be participating in the marching band, choir and theatre program at Slippery Rock University! I am looking forward to a new environment and more opportunities to grow my love for music there.”
All of Falvo’s hard work is paying off, as she gets to continue to take part in the programs she loves following high school. She is grateful to her parents, grandparents, and past and present music teachers for helping her reach her musical goals.
