Prom season is coming up fast, and it’s time to put the final planning touches on the big day! Held at the Hilton Garden Inn at Southpointe, the dance will be on May 30, 2025, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Check in begins at 5:00 p.m. Tickets will be sold from May 5 to May 16 in the cafeteria, online and the main office, and they will cost $70. Dismissal from the dance will be at 9:30 p.m, but attendees may not leave before 8:30 p.m. It’s open to juniors and seniors, but underclassmen and students from other schools will have to be taken by upperclassmen and fill out a form in order to attend.
The theme this year is “A Night Under the Stars,” and the colors are navy blue, silver and gold. The decorations fit this theme, but it’s up to the attendees as to whether or not they want to dress to the theme.
Senior Taylor Layhue stated, “When it comes to prom, I like to do my own thing and go for something unique and different. I do not go prom dress shopping with the theme in mind, but I do feel like almost every dress has a way of fitting the theme in a way that’s customizable to you and I love that.”
Students can attend the dance with dates, but it’s also fun to go in a group with friends. There are many possibilities when it comes to groups and getting pictures taken.
Junior Caden Miller stated, “I think it’s more fun to go with friends because you don’t feel obligated to go with one person. You can just float around, talk to everyone and have fun in a big group of friends.”
There isn’t a wrong way to do prom, as long as it’s fun and safe. Another activity that goes along with prom is the Grand March, where couples have the opportunity to walk down the stage and strike some poses before the big day. It’s at 4:00 p.m. at Trinity High School on May 30, and admission is free. To take part, just show up around 3:45 p.m. The Grand March is definitely something to look into for anyone looking to display their prom look.
“I think that the Grand March is something that every couple should do, as well as something that needs to be more encouraged. It’s a time for girls to show off their beautiful dresses and have fun on stage with their date. Most importantly, parents love that they get the chance to see everyone dressed up. My boyfriend and I will definitely be attending the Grand March,” said Layhue.
There are many different components that go into the night of prom, from getting hair and nails done, to taking pictures for Instagram, to hanging out with friends at the end of the night. Planning is crucial to getting everything done in a punctual manner, while still being on time for the dance.
“I know from the dances I’ve been to, it’s really chaotic. I’m hopeful that my day will go smoothly, especially
because I’ll be attending a full day of school,” shared Miller.
Students must stay at school until after first period to be eligible for the dance. This gives time for attendees to get their hair and makeup done without rushing.
Senior Avery Nutter remarked, “My perfect prom morning would probably be going to get breakfast with my friends after leaving school early.”
It’s the people that make prom special, and there are plenty of ways to get ready for the big night. It’s a time where everyone comes together and has a good time, and there’s no reason to be stressed.
Layhue encourages, “Go out on the dance floor and dance! Sometimes people are embarrassed or feel uncomfortable and I even felt like that at first, but when you just let loose, you realize how much fun it really is. Prom is such a memorable day, so soak it all in. Days like this can be stressful but the little things do not matter. What matters is living in the moment and having fun because these are memories you can never get back. No matter the dress, hair or makeup, every girl will look beautiful in their own way. I am looking forward to my last ever prom as a senior!”
With everything going on this time of year, don’t forget to buy tickets or do any last minute shopping! Have fun, Hillers!
