April is soon coming to an end! This means there is only a little more than a month left of school. With that, it’s important to remember that when the school year comes to a close, days are often jam-packed with AP tests, finals, schools events and college preparation.
With so much piling up, it can be stressful to take each step one at a time and truly enjoy the end of the school year. So, how does one get everything on their to-do list done while also making the most of their 2024-2025 school year?
To start, stay involved! It’s easy to often slack off both in school and in social events, and it’s hard to get out of that “slump.” Try to participate as much as possible in class discussions, ask the teachers questions and stay in touch with friends as well. Plan an amazing prom experience early, that way, the last-minute planning stress doesn’t ruin the big day. Spring sporting events are another great way to socialize with friends. Show out to the track and field meets, lacrosse matches or baseball and softball games!
Next, get outside! With the weather becoming increasingly nicer, try to find time either after school or on the weekends to get some Vitamin D. Sunshine is known to boost serotonin levels and make a person happier overall. Exercise also has the same benefits, so pair both forces up by going on a run or playing catch with someone outside.
Another good way to make the most out of this school year is to stay on top of those assignments. During the end of the school year, the tendency to slack off and set some assignments to the side becomes a habit. One way to stop this is to start every assignment as soon as it is received. Write one sentence or do one math problem, that way, it’s not as hard to start later. Also, study for tests beforehand. Instead of putting studying off until the day before, stretch it out over multiple days. That way, information can be retained better in the brain instead of being crammed in last minute. Take about 20 minutes of quality studying every day to go over the material, that way the information is absorbed, but not overloaded. Do this with AP Tests too! Studying earlier for those big tests can prove to be more helpful in getting higher scores as well as reducing stress levels surrounding the test.
Finally, take the time to prepare for next year. For upcoming juniors and seniors, start to look at possible summer internships, scholarship opportunities and college searches! This can take some of the confusion out of college by getting a head start and help by getting a better understanding of what certain colleges are looking for.
Overall, being prepared for everything makes one’s life less stressful and more enjoyable. So, get ahead to enjoy the last days before summer, Trinity!
