Eager fans are preparing for the new and final episodes of “Cobra Kai” coming out this February. Although many say the wait was short, many others say that they have been waiting too long for the end of this show. “Cobra Kai” audiences have very different opinions when it comes to the show’s finale, as some anticipate a negative ending, and some expect the opposite. Expectations have a wide range when it comes to the new episodes, including character development and comparison to the excitement of prior episodes.
“Cobra Kai” is a spin-off from the 80s movie trilogy “Karate Kid.” The episodes can be found on Netflix and usually range from 22-48 minutes. The show circles around the life of Johnny Lawrence, played by William Zabka, who was the main antagonist of the first “Karate Kid” movie, but is the protagonist in “Cobra Kai.” When Johnny finds himself to be penniless, he reopens the Cobra Kai dojo, which restarts his rivalry with a successful man, Daniel LaRusso, played by Ralph Macchio, the protagonist of the “Karate Kid” movies.
Throughout the series, these characters bury the hatchet and become friends. Over time, they join dojos and fight together rather than against each other. This sparks friendships and relationships, opening many more plot points into the show.
Heading into season six of “Cobra Kai,” antagonist Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) is behind bars and Johnny and his girlfriend are expecting a child together. Senseis Daniel, Johnny, and Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) are getting the Valley’s karate kids ready for the Sekai Taikai, the most prestigious karate tournament in modern martial arts history. Meanwhile, in the finale of season five, antagonist John Kreese (Martin Kove) is brought back into the show, as he fakes his death and escapes from prison.
Many predictions for the ending of the show consist of what fans hope for their favorite characters. Some expect to see more of the romance between the characters Sam and Miguel, some hope to see Miguel win the Sekai Taikai in the end, and some wish for Terry Silver to vanish permanently.
“Miguel winning would be great to see. He really needs it for college,” says Sophomore Brooklyn Welsh.
On the other hand, some fans expect to see “Cobra Kai” end negatively.
“I think Cobra Kai will end up losing in the end,” says Sophomore Lyla Fortney.
No matter which ending happens, fans are amped up to watch Season 6: Part 3! Be ready for the final episodes to air on Netflix on February 13, 2025!
