What made you realize you wanted to be a teacher?
The impact my teachers had on me, going above and beyond to help me. I have never been motivated by money or prestige. I wanted a career that was fulfilling and allowed me to do what I love.
What is your education experience?
I have a Bachelor of Arts in History and Secondary Education at Waynesburg University in 2013, a Master of Arts in Special Education at Waynesburg University in 2015 and a Principal Certification at Point Park University in 2021.
What subjects do you teach?
9th Grade World History, 10th Grade American History and a Directed Study Hall.
What is the best part about working at the High School?
I love the energy of the building. High school students are on the edge of making decisions about what they want to pursue in life and who they want to be. I also like the high level discussions we can have in class.
How has the transition been from MS to HS?
Change is always hard, even after teaching for nine years. I miss my colleagues and students from the middle school, but the transition has been wonderful. I have zero regrets. I love it up here at the High School, I just want to become a better teacher for my students!
What is your biggest goal you’d like to achieve while at THS?
I want to create a classroom where students genuinely look forward to learning each day. I want my students to feel that we provided them a greater understanding of the past and current world events.
What is the best part about coaching football?
That answer is easy because it is the deep relationships you develop with players, their families and assistant coaches.
What do you like to do in your free time?
The best part of my day is coming home to see my wife and our dog Maya.
I love to travel, read, exercise, play sports and smoke meat on my wood pellet and charcoal grill smokers for my family.
What’s your advice for your students or players?
If you do what is easy your life will be hard, but if you do what is hard your life will be easy.
