After over 13 years in the district, Mr. Craig Uram moves to Trinity’s central office and takes up the mantle of Assistant Superintendent this November after the retirement of Dr. Donald Snoke, long-time member of Trinity’s Administration.
Uram had a unique path to TASD Administration. With no family history of administrative careers and no plans for attending college, Uram went into construction.
During that time, Uram began coaching baseball and football and found that he immensely enjoyed working with kids.
Uram “got to know kids and their interests and heat motivated students to be successful.”
There was a certain satisfaction, for Uram, in watching a player perform something he had taught. This led Uram to the field of education, where he was able to teach kids skills they would use throughout their lives. Uram obtained his Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Waynesburg University, as well as his principal’s certification and special education certificate.
Uram’s career at Trinity started in Special Education, when he was assigned to Trinity High School as an Autistic Support teacher. After a period teaching 5th grade math at West, Uram moved back to the High School and worked as Assistant Principal. After moving back to West for one term as principal, Uram returned to the High School and settled in as principal.
Uram has found much satisfaction working in this district and has never had any desire to move.
“At the end of the day, we always have a common goal of doing what’s best for kids,” Uram says.
When the assistant superintendent position opened up, Uram decided to take it.
Uram had wondered about moving to this position during his time in high school administration, but never expected this opportunity to be presented as early as it was.
This will be Uram’s first time working in Trinity’s central office. His responsibilities spread to all the buildings in the district rather than managing the staff and students of a single school, as he was accustomed to as both Trinity West’s and Trinity High School’s principals.
Dr. Michael Lucas, Trinity’s Superintendent, doesn’t doubt that Uram can manage his broader spread of
responsibilities. Uram is “well-connected” and “very close to the community,” Lucas says.
Uram is looking forward to expanding his connections within the district and bringing his own perspective to TASD administration.
