One of Trinity’s bell tower offices will be changing hands this November with the retirement of Dr. Donald Snoke, Assistant Superintendent and pillar of the Trinity community for over 27 years.
Snoke’s interest in a career in education started early. Having been raised by a family of school staff, pursing a job in the same field was an easy choice.
“It just seemed like the natural thing to do,” Snoke says.
After teaching social studies at Washington High School for 10 years as well as coaching football, wresting and track for 17, Snoke finished his principal certification at Derry School District.
Snoke’s time at Trinity started at the High School when he was hired as an assistant principal in 1998, and he later moved to the position of assistant superintendent in 2015.
Throughout his years here, Snoke has observed the district’s efforts to “truly promote academic excellence in academics, arts, and athletics.”
Modern facilities, 23 AP classes and nine CTE tracks are all part of the plan to remove barriers for students.
The best part about working in the district, for Snoke, is working with staff and administration to do what’s in the students’ best interests. Snoke is proud of the school’s contributions to local food banks and appreciative of the community support Trinity has received throughout his tenure.
Snoke’s favorite memory from his time in the district was a latent graduation in the early 2000s held for veterans of World War 2 who had dropped out of school to volunteer for the army or were drafted.
During his retirement, Snoke hopes to “enjoy the family more” and spend time with his wife. He plans to maintain an active presence in the Trinity community through collecting and growing food for the food bank.
Snoke feels his retirement from Assistant Superintendent this November to be bittersweet.
“I just appreciate the reception I’ve had through my years at Trinity,” he says.
Even as he prepares to leave the office, Snoke maintains a vested interest in the well-being and success of the students he oversees and continues to be impressed by the district’s commitments to innovation and progress.
