The Trinity football team has proven that they will not back down from a fight during their 2024 season. As always, the boys have given their all at each and every game in hopes of scoring a spot in the playoff games.
Year-round, the team conditions and trains for the season in the months leading up to the first game which, this year, took place on August 23, 2024, at Moon Area School District.
With the addition of the Trinity Athletic Complex, the boys were able to have a full year of practice on the indoor turf field regardless of weather conditions. Beyond the field, they now have the ability to utilize the Sports Performance Center within the complex in order to stay in shape during the regular season.
This year, the seniors on the team are Andy Palm, Hunter Martin, Semaj Fuse, Nico Mauro, Caden Bazzoli, Jack Dufalla, Jerod Catlin, Caden Vogel, Jon Dube, Brock Spiker, Julius Wise and Bryce McFall. The captains of the team are Vogel, Fuse and Mauro along with Junior Captain Jonah Williamson. They are led by Head Coach Mr. Knause and multiple assistant coaches, including Mr. Alex Smith.
One of the biggest wins of the year for the Hillers was the Homecoming game against Ringgold, which took place on September 27, 2024. The team brought their talent to the field, and they did not disappoint.
The last and most highly-anticipated game of the season took place on October 25, 2024. This home game was against Belle Vernon, one of the Hiller’s biggest competitors. The game concluded in a Trinity win with a score of 31-21.
Subsequently, the boys are taking this season’s wins to the playoffs this year to hopefully bring home a win in WPIAL Class 4A.
Regardless of the outcome of the games, the camaraderie among the team members makes it easy to persevere. The relationships between the guys both on and off the field are described as tight-knit.
“Having a close team is one of the most important factors. As long as we stay close, we will be good,” says Williamson.
Another vital component of the games is the crowd and atmosphere of the games. Football is generally a widespread celebration of athletic ability even to those who do not play the game, and for good reason.
The teams play much better with a boisterous crowd. At Trinity, the student section is made for high school students who want to cheer on their peers.
“Students at Trinity are always fantastic at supporting the program on Friday Nights. We always feel we have a Home Field advantage when teams come to Trinity,” Smith exclaims.
Keep up the great work, Hillers!
