I am pleased to nominate Katie Davis for THS Student of the Month. Katie is undoubtedly one of the most intelligent, caring, and mature students I have enjoyed teaching in my 32 years in the classroom. I have had the opportunity to observe Katie as she developed into an excellent student and young citizen; she has made a strong impression on me. 

Katie has incredible resolve and focus on her academic endeavors, while clearly exhibiting dedication to an important variety of extra-curricular activities. Her credentials prove a high level of achievement and leadership with participation in many clubs and community activities and consistently does her best in all that she attempts. Her consistently high grades, earning her membership in the National Honor Society Student and German National Honor Society, demonstrate that she knows how to maximize her time effectively and efficiently- a very important quality for any individual. Her dedication and leadership with the Trinity Leadership Committee and Friends of Rachel Club emphasize her strong empathy for others and her desire to make our high school and community a better place. Moreover, Katie can’t fit the Orchestra period in her demanding academic schedule full of Advanced Placement courses, yet she continues to learn the music on her own and perform with her peers in recitals and the pit for our annual musical. Her outstanding musical talent is also on display during the spring Tri-M Recital where her passion and mastery of the violin is evident. Clearly, she is a student worthy of emulation. 

Most importantly, Katie is committed to learning. She has a sharp mind and a striking personality. Katie has always challenged herself academically and works daily to improve herself. She strives to do her best in all that she undertakes and frequently offers a helping hand to others in need; it is a true test of one’s superior subject knowledge if one feels comfortable enough to teach it to others. One can tell immediately that Katie comprehends new complex subject matter quickly and completely with attention to detail. She is a remarkable student. 

I admire Katie Davis; her focus, commitment, and determination are unlike any other student that I have taught. In view of these strong qualities, I wholeheartedly give her my highest recommendation for this honor.
