Trinity Hillers play to win, and the cross country team is no exception. With both boys and girls running undefeated with a record of 7-0 as of September 26, it is clear that the Hillers will be the team to beat throughout the 2024 season.
Led by Coach Jim Faiella, who possesses just over two decades of coaching experience, the girls’ team has gotten off to a strong start. Under his leadership, runners are inspired to be better, not just as athletes, but as members of their community.
Faiella commends his lettermen who have put in countless hours of work over the summer to continue improving prior to the start of the season.
“The team has improved a lot together. The coaches are so supportive and both teams are running undefeated,” says girls’ Senior Captain Abigail Bodart.
Under the leadership of seasoned Coach Donald Zimak, the boys’ team is committed to reaching their goals and improving as a team and as individuals.
Both teams hold themselves to incredible standards of athletic achievement, with boys’ Junior Captain Andy Ciampa explaining that this year the teams aim to win Counties once again and place in the top five at Sections.
The team practices every weekday, with home meets held at South Strabane Park. With fun themes and a strong sense of Hiller pride, these meets are the perfect way to spend time. Some recent and exciting meets include the Knight Nights Relay and the Hiller 5k.
With plenty of road left ahead, the cross country team is sure to continue to exceed expectations and excel as runners. Be sure to show Hiller Pride and support both the boys and girls at their next meet, the Section 6 Dual Meet Championship at White Oak Park on October 1, 2024, where all nine section teams will compete against each other for the first time ever.
