Leaves are starting to fall and the air is getting cool. Haunted houses are opening their doors, and pumpkins are being picked. It’s finally time to put on sweaters and get into the fall spirit.
Getting into the fall spirit can be one of the most exciting parts of the year, whether it be watching scary movies, going to pumpkin patches or even getting a festive costume! There are so many fun ways to get into the October mindset.
“I really enjoy bonfires, they definitely give me a fall vibe,” said Junior Meredyth Stimmell.
Haunted houses are many people’s go-to fall activity. Whether it scares people out of their mind or gives them a laugh while going through, haunted houses are a great way to celebrate fall. Some great haunted houses, according to interviewees, are Hundred Acres Manor, located in Bethel Park; Demon House, which can be found in Pittsburgh; and even the West Alexander Scare Fair.
Those who aren’t so into the idea of being scared into the fall spirit might enjoy a sweet treat. One of the most famous is Starbucks, where coffee lovers get pumpkin spice drinks. People who aren’t drawn to festive drinks could look to cheap sweets in the grocery store. For example, candy corn, cookies and even pumpkin bread are great alternatives to satisfy that sweet tooth.
Another classic way to spend fall days is to watch a favorite show or movie. This could range from a cute show to a terrifying movie.
For example, Sophomore Saylor Kitsko said, “I love watching ‘Gilmore Girls’ in the fall, it’s just so cute.”
On the other hand, Junior Dakota Lloyd pointed out, “‘The Conjuring’ is such a good movie, especially close to Halloween.”
Lastly, music is a mood-changer, especially for the holidays. Whether it be an old classic Halloween song or one that has nothing to do with fall, music can put anyone in the right mood for the right day.
“Taylor Swift music really puts me in the fall mood,” said Stimmell.
‘September’ by Earth Wind and Fire has proven to be one of the most popular songs played during fall months.
No matter what is chosen to put someone in the fall spirit, it’s all about having fun. Staying in, going out, baking, or even getting a fall candle can lift spirits. Remember to have a great time this fall, and make the best of every moment.
