After a 15 year hiatus, one of UK’s greatest bands of all time, Oasis, is reuniting for a 2025 summer tour. “Oasis Live ‘25” will be going to stadiums and parks all around the UK and Ireland. Long-time fans will finally be hearing their popular songs live, such as “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back In Anger.”
In 1991, bassist Paul McGuigan, guitarist Paul Arthurs and drummer Tony McCarroll, formed the band “Rain,” eventually adding Liam Gallagher as their frontman and Noel Gallagher as a guitarist and songwriter. Liam suggested a different water-themed name, “Oasis,” and the name stuck. This small band from Manchester’s first studio album “Definitely Maybe” debuted at No. 1 on the UK charts.
Their career skyrocketed from there; Oasis’ 2nd album “(What’s the Story?) Morning Glory” became one of the UK’s best selling albums and won “British Album of the Year” at the Brit Awards. From that same album, “Wonderwall” won “Best Music Video” at the same Brit Awards ceremony.
When music lover and German teacher Herr McLaughlin heard about the reunion, he was “surprised, because of the way they split.”
The band officially broke up before a show near Paris in 2009 after Noel quit because of his brother’s behavior. Throughout the band’s incredible career, Liam temporarily quit the band many times for multiple reasons. The Gallagher brothers were always known for constant disagreements and bickering.
Freshman Rosie Orr says that her favorite song by Oasis is “Champagne Supernova” because it is “super groovy.”
There have been some rumors floating around about Oasis possibly extending their tour to other continents because of the high demand for tickets. Orr said that if they were to come to the United States, she would definitely buy tickets.
“Oasis Live ‘25” is set to kickoff on July 4 2025, in Principality Stadium in Cardiff, then Heaton Park in Manchester, and Wembley Stadium in London to end their UK leg of the tour. Oasis then intends to visit Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and Croke Park in Dublin to complete their reunion shows. McLaughlin already has his tickets and will fly over to Dublin in August of 2025.
Though there has been much drama between the Gallagher brothers in the past years, Noel and Liam set aside their differences for their lifelong fans to hear some of their favorite songs for seventeen nights.
