All year, Trinity is hosting a district-wide celebration for the 100 anniversary of the school. With many festivities in store for students and staff, this will certainly not be a party to miss.
In 1924, the very first student class began their academic year in a school that was once Trinity Hall Military Academy.
While it is often misunderstood that Trinity’s centennial should begin celebrating in 2025, this is actually incorrect. The first graduating class ended their year in a new building different from where they started it, the building that would eventually be known as Trinity High School. This is the reason why Trinity’s established year is 1925 instead of 1924.
Due to Trinity’s extensive past, administrators wanted to focus this year-long celebration on two things: remembering the past while improving the future and “Embracing Excellence,” as the district theme states.
As a way of continuing the legacy of Trinity, retired teachers were invited to the grand opening of the Intermediate School. Furthermore, homecoming queens from years past attended the official Homecoming game on September 27, 2024 to further commemorate the past while uplifting the future. There will also be a football game dedicated to Trinity alumni on October 18, 2024.
Assistant Superintendent Dr. Snoke comments, “Our 100 year is really a unique thing for a high school to be celebrating, so we had to figure out a way to do it justice with these events. We’re trying to have current students recognize Trinity alumni as a way of continuing our legacy. We even had about 30 retired staff members come together over the summer to celebrate the people who helped us get here.”
As a way of improving Trinity’s future, athletics and activities director Mr. Rich mentions that the brand-new district theme “Embracing Excellence” serves to celebrate superior academics and athletics. This comes in support of the school’s belief that every student is capable of learning and succeeding and that all students should be provided the opportunity to do so.
“We even came up with a Trinity story that will eventually go into each of our buildings for students to read. The idea is we want to inspire and motivate students using Trinity pride,” Rich adds.
He further explains that the soon-to-be-seen story will be edited down for elementary school students to be able to understand it starting from a young and formative age.
In essence, there will be many celebrations occurring throughout the school year. Expect to see the elevation of Trinity pride incorporated into even the shortest of days as the centennial celebration kicks off!
