Trinity High School Seniors Arwen Ikach and Nathan Sander both have future plans to pursue artistic careers in college once they graduate and give up their position as drum majors in the Trinity Marching Band.
Ikach is attending PennWest College for commercial music business while Sander is planning to continue his passion for photography at Temple University Tyler School of Art and Architecture.
After graduating from PennWest College, Ikach hopes to obtain a degree in commercial music business and go on to achieve an MBA in a five-year course. Additionally, Sander wants to graduate college with a bachelor’s degree in photography.
Many people in Ikach’s and Sander’s life are excited for the success they will eventually achieve and are cheering for them on the sidelines.
Ms. Shaw constantly encouraged Ikach in every musical she took part in throughout high school, which inspired her to pursue her music career after graduation.
Meanwhile, Sander enjoyed participating in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, which encouraged him to pursue photography as a career, and Mrs. Hartley assisted Sander with the college application process.
As drum majors, they both have one main supporter for continuing their band career in college. One of Ikach’s and Sander’s biggest supporters is Mr. Hilty.
Hilty says, “I encourage them [students] to continue music in some capacity [college].”
Going into college, Ikach is looking forward to becoming more independent by living in her own dorm on campus. Similarly, Sander is excited for the freedom he will have while living in his own dorm.
Ikach advises those going into college for an artistic career to not stress about it and Sander believes it’s important to start building a portfolio early.
Ikach and Sander are looking forward to attending college to continue on their artistic career paths.
