As summer approaches, there is much to remember when taking or planning a senior trip.

There is so much that plays into the planning and trip such as where to stay, how to pay for it, where to go, who to go with and how to get there.

When planning senior trips, it’s important to create a budget first.

Developing a maximum budget with the rest of the people going will help students remember not to overspend on vacation. While the trip will be fun, it’s important not to spend all of your money.

Then, pick a location.

It’s important to choose a location that you and your group will thoroughly enjoy.  Make sure there are many fun things to do around the destination. Don’t go somewhere just for the view or the weather. It’s important to have fun wherever you choose to go by making sure there’s activities to keep you busy.

Next, a place to stay.

Whether it’s a beach house or a hotel, remember to keep the cost within the budget and to not spend too much money on where you’ll be sleeping. Plan things to do around where you’re staying and experience new places to eat so you don’t have to spend too much time traveling after a long day. Find a place well before taking the trip so there is a secure place to stay.

Take into consideration the cost of getting there. Create a budget around plane tickets or gas money needed to get to the destination. Traveling may be one of the biggest difficulties on the trip, so remember to be up and ready for the plane ride or have enough gas money to make the trip.

After considering all of these things in your budget, make sure to have a little extra money in case you want to go to restaurants or do something fun like scuba diving.

If planning on taking a senior trip it’s best to build your budget in increments. Think of a goal everyone agrees upon and then put a little money aside when you get paid.

Seniors deserve one last good, fun, exciting and laughter-filled summer before heading to college, and a properly planned summer trip may be just what they need!
