Trinity High school “springs” into upcoming club trips
This spring, many Trinity clubs are taking trips to state competitions to compete with other schools and individual students for state titles and to further their knowledge on their topic of interest. The FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is going to Hershey for their state competition, FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) is going to Seven Springs for their state competition and the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) class is traveling to King of Prussia, PA, to compete for scholarships.
Chloe Prowitt, a junior, a state officer of PA FCCLA and the president of Trinity’s FCCLA, said that the students traveled to Seven Springs for their state competition. Prowitt along with Sophomore Jayden Engle, traveled to Seven Springs with Mrs. Aliveto on March 17- 22. The other eight remaining students arrived to the competition with Ms. Tsangaris on March 19, and stayed with the officers until March 22.
At the competition, the officers had to speak about the FCCLA club to around 500 people and a panel of judges. Prowitt says that her favorite part of the competition last year was the guest speakers who talked about mental health and other various topics of life. Prowitt says she is excited to compete and make memories with her club on the trip this year.
“FCCLA has influenced me to be a leader and has helped develop my future career,” said Prowitt.
The FBLA club will be traveling to Hershey, PA, for their state competition. President Grace Coyle, other club members, and club advisors Mrs. Migyanko and Mrs. Husk, will be traveling to Hershey from April 17-19. At the competition, students can compete in performance event categories.
In performance events, PowerPoints are created by individual students and presented in front of a panel of judges. Students can also participate in objective tests for States and the results will be announced at the competition. Last year, Coyle and 35 other students qualified to go to States. The students competed, but did not make it past the States round.
At the competition, the venue hosts many business, marketing and accounting workshops where students can learn more about business. Coyle is excited to compete and hopes to place in the top 10 with her partner, Morgan Bonell, who is also a senior in the club.
Coyle expressed, “The workshops help me learn more business that I might not learn in the classroom.”
The HOSA class is traveling to King of Prussia to test in medical categories. The students can participate by taking a test on a specific category such as dental terminology, or by presenting a presentation on the category in front of a panel of judges. The class leaves on March 28 and will return on March 31.
The competition results will come back that weekend or the following week and scholarships will be given to eligible students who participated in the competition. Junior Allison Kulla says she is excited to learn more about the medical field and participate in the competition since it is the first year she is able to travel with her other classmates.
Kulla explained, “I want to go into the medical field one day, and HOSA has helped me prepare for that one day. I can’t wait to learn more with my classmates during this trip.”
The students in these clubs have worked so hard to be able to have these opportunities and experiences. Good luck to HOSA, FBLA, and FCCLA on their trips!
