The Trinity boy’s basketball team has definitely faced a difficult season; their current record stands at 5-17. Out of the 22 games played so far this season, the Hillers have defeated Thomas Jefferson, Brownsville, Seneca Valley, South Fayette and Canon Mac.

The seniors and the captains on the team are Kyle Fetcho, Gio Cipoletti and Connor Roberts. The boys are coached by Tim Tessmer.

Head Coach Tessmer stated, “My favorite memory from this season is just being able to help develop this group of young men into a group that competes every possession and gets after it during practice, every weight room session and on the floor on Friday nights.”

The leading scorer is Roberts, averaging 16 points per game, and second top scorer is sophomore Dante DeRubbo.

Beating Canon Mac over Christmas break was a big win for the boys as the Big Macs are one of the Hiller´s biggest rivals, in addition to Chartiers Valley and Washington High School.

The boys finished off their difficult season with their last game against Armstrong High School; the Hillers played a good game but in the end lost with seconds left in the last quarter.

Fetcho explains how the Hillers can improve for next year: “the boys need to focus on defensive and offensive fundamentals.”

This season many younger inexperienced players such as Tyler Burt, Cole Carl, Kaden Hathaway and Andrew Collins got playing time and gained Varsity experience, so going into next year following off-season training, they will be ready to have a great season for the Hillers.

Tessmer states, “This season has been trying with numerous bumps in the road, but I would not have wanted to go through with a different group of guys. They have made the process enjoyable the whole ride and I look forward to many successes to come.”

The Hillers overall showed their drive and love for the sport throughout the season, and they will continue to do amazing things next season.
