Being single on Valentine’s Day can be the perfect excuse to treat yourself to something special. Self-love is just as important as showing love to others!

Valentine’s Day is a day for all couples of the world to be happy and together, while sharing love between each other. It’s a very special day for those in some kind of relationship. However, those not in a relationship sometimes end up feeling down about not having someone to spend the day with. People tend to wonder what to do on Valentine’s Day for a single person. Valentine’s Day is best spent with some other single friends. Then, it is easy to forget about the fact that it is Valentine’s Day. Sometimes just having someone else to be around makes Valentine’s Day that much better.

Another way to spend Valentine’s Day is with family. Valentine’s Day isn’t just about significant others, it can be showing love for family, too. This makes it a perfect idea to spend time with them and let them know they are loved.

When asked who she spends her Valentine’s Day with, Senior Margaret Garcia stated, “I spend Valentine’s Day with my co-workers. We do a soup competition.”

Spending time with people one loves is why Valentine’s Day exists. It doesn’t matter who that is, it just matters that love is shown.

Garcia explained why Valentine’s Day is so important: “I think it’s important to have a day dedicated to recognizing the ones you love because sometimes it can be lost in the radio static.”

There are some good things about being single. Single people get to be free to do as they please, get to spend time with many people (as opposed to just one) and get to explore their options of potential future significant others.

Senior Alex Franks said what he most enjoys about not having a Valentine is, “I don’t have to constantly give someone attention.”

Valentine’s Day is about spending time with family and friends and those one cares about, and that is the meaning of this holiday. Whether one has a date for Valentine’s Day or not, have a wonderful day and make some great memories!

Here are 3 fun ideas to do on Valentine’s Day to keep from being bored and lonely!

  1. Go over to a friend’s house and watch some movies or just hang out. People overlook how much fun watching movies can be.
  2. Play some board/card games with family. Playing games with family can be so fun and create many new memories. It can also help one forget it even is Valentine’s Day.
  3. Open up a nice book and have a lovely evening reading any kind of book of interest. Not only could it be a way to learn something new, but it could also provide an escape and potentially a new hobby.
