January can bring a variety of challenges: dealing with unpleasantly cold temperatures, taking Christmas decorations down or trying to keep impossible New Year’s resolutions. In the midst of all of these January obstacles, there is a ray of hope, Girl Scout cookies!
The new cookie this year is called Adventurefuls™, which is an indulgent brownie-inspired cookie topped with caramel flavored crème and a hint of sea salt.
Freshman and Girl Scout Addison McCoy had the opportunity to try these cookies and said, “I definitely enjoy the concept of a brownie-flavored cookie paired with caramel. They were crunchy and the cookie tasted just like a brownie. I will say I tend to enjoy a softer brownie but these were a pleasant surprise. I am definitely going to buy a few boxes!”
There are many old favorite Girl Scout cookies that are back again this year in South-Western Pennsylvania. Thin Mints® are crisp wafers covered in a chocolaty coating, made with natural oil of peppermint. These cookies are vegan. Samoas® are crisp cookies, coated in caramel, sprinkled with toasted coconut and striped with a dark chocolaty coating. Tagalongs® are crispy cookies layered with peanut butter and covered with a chocolaty coating. Do-si-dos® are a crunchy oatmeal sandwich cookie with creamy peanut butter filling. Trefoils® are a delicate-tasting shortbread that is delightfully simple and satisfying. Lemon-Ups® are crispy lemon cookies baked with motivational messages. Girl Scout S’mores® are crunchy graham sandwich cookies with creamy chocolate and marshmallow filling. Toffee-tastics® are rich, buttery cookies packed with golden toffee bits bursting with flavor. These cookies are also Gluten Free.

Cookies can be purchased from many Girl Scouts at Trinity High School. Meredith Bryant, Riley Dunn, Addison McCoy, Leah Falvo, Sara Setto, Kelsey Vanderhoof, Kaitlyn Pierrard, Margaret (Meg) Garcia, Emma Liggett and Addison Paul are some of the hard-working Girl Scouts who will be happy to take orders.
Mrs. Helmkamp said, “I was able to order what cookies I wanted, pay in school and they were delivered to me in school! Easy peasy!”

If one is on a New Years’ diet or isn’t a huge cookie fan, but still wants to support your local Girl Scouts, they can choose to donate cookies to troops overseas. The Girl Scout Association will then send the cookies to active duty military or veterans.
Grab a “Tagalong” and “Do-si-do” to the nearest Girl Scout to get cookies!
