Many of the decorative pictures hung up are from a poetic assignment Shaw gives to her English 10 classes. Shaw also adds books on the sides, which perfectly compliment the rest of her display.

Considering that winter break is right around the corner, holiday decorating is always a pleasure to look at in teachers’ rooms. Classroom decorating often entertains and excites students who enter a teacher’s festive room and see fascinating decorations. At Trinity High School, many teachers believe that decorating the classroom should be encouraged.

When it comes to classroom decorating, it only makes sense that different teachers are going to have at least somewhat differing opinions. For example, English teacher Ms. Shaw decorates her classroom with various trinkets. Shaw’s room is filled with numerous ELA decorations related to the holiday season. Therefore, there are many winter and holiday poems on the walls and festive literary-themed displays.

Although it takes additional time and effort, Shaw believes that, “If it makes me and my students happy, then I’m willing to make the extra effort.”

Mrs. Booher regularly decorates for many holidays throughout the year as well. She feels that because some families aren’t fortunate enough to have decorations at home, they can have something seasonal and bright to look at in her room.

When it comes to decorating, Booher believes that, “The sky is the limit! Just see my room!”

Booher also includes other seasonal winter holidays into her decorating such as Kwanza, Hanukkah  and Christmas. She has informational books on her window to educate the reader about these winter holidays if students aren’t familiar with them.

Mrs. Rush decorates her room for the winter holiday season as well. She believes that her winter decorations add to the festive atmosphere. Furthermore, Rush thinks that her holiday decorating makes her classroom a more pleasant place to be at each day. Similar to Booher, Rush tries to make her classroom more inclusive by adding decorations that don’t mention specific holidays.

Classroom decorating can be enjoyed by both the teacher and student. The act of spreading holiday cheer and positivity is always welcomed around this time of the year. Happy Holidays!
