Literary Journal 2022 – It’s gonna be lit!
The Literary Journal creates a publication each year to display the artistic talent of students in Trinity High School. They accept poems, song lyrics, crossword puzzles, word searches, short stories, paintings and other creative pieces. In the Literary Journal, club members are in charge of creating a book filled with students’ original writing and artwork. This year they have four section editors who read submissions from other students and edit them before adding them to the book. They also have four design editors who are in charge of collecting any artwork submissions, and making sure that the cover of the book is colorful and decorative. The publication full of all of the art and writing submissions will be available for purchase at the end of the school year.
Riley Dunn is Editor-in-Chief of the Literary Journal and Mrs. Booher is its advisor. Dunn enjoys being the Editor-in-Chief because she loves interacting with everyone. She has always loved writing, which is also a huge part of what she does. Dunn likes that the club gives students the opportunity to express themselves through art and writing.
This year, the theme is on the four elements of Earth, so people who write stories on earth, fire, air or water will stand out in particular this year.
“Riley is a very capable leader who rises to the occasion and takes responsibility when it is necessary,” said Daniel Lee, Marketing Chief of the Literary Journal.
Lee participates in the literary journal because he enjoys reading other people’s work and seeing their talent flourish. Since he is the Marketing Chief, he enjoys making the commercials for Literary Journal. They give him the ability to be creative and imaginative with his advertisements. The Literary Journal has taught him how to work quickly and efficiently. With constant submissions coming in, he used to become overwhelmed with proofreading, editing and organizing people’s work before a deadline, but now that there is a bigger staff and they are getting an early start, he is ready for this year.
The Literary Journal meets every other Friday in Mrs. Booher’s room. The next meeting is on December 3.
Students who are interested in submitting their own writings or art to the Literary Journal should send their work in an email or Google Doc to the email literaryjournal@trinityhillers.net. They are officially accepting submissions!
If anyone is interested in joining the Literary Journal, there is still time! Anyone interested should contact Riley Dunn at dunnr@trinityhillers.net or Mrs. Booher at rbooher@trinityhillers.net.
