Spooky, scary or not? Which Halloween movies top the favorites list?
A survey was recently sent out to every grade in the Trinity High School asking students to vote on their favorite Halloween movies. There were seven categories to vote in: Funny, Monstober, Animated, Series, Slasher, All-time Classic and Supernatural.
For funny movies, the winner was “Hubie Halloween.”. “Hubie Halloween” is a Netflix original movie that came out in 2020. It is about Salem, Massachusetts, and the town’s eccentric, good-natured and devoted community volunteer, Hubie, who finds himself in the middle of a real investigation for a real murder. The movie is full of many crude jokes that young kids will find hilarious. Adam Sandler strikes again and stars in another hit.
Disney’s Monstober winner was…a tie! There was a tie between “Girl Vs. Monster” and “Halloweentown.” Both were tallied with a total of 19 votes each out of 80 responses. Both are classic Disney movies that shed light on the magic kids see within the holiday.
The animated movie winner was another classic Disney movie, “Nightmare Before Christmas.” This Tim Burton movie is a holiday fan favorite among all age groups. The comparison between Halloween and Christmas shows kids how to appreciate both holidays.
The winner for the Halloween series are the “Halloween” movies. Whether it is the classic or one of the multiple remakes, Michael Meyers will forever remain the king of Halloween himself, as he is also the winner of the Slasher category. Halloween took both slasher and series categories by storm.
Despite “Halloween” being a classic in both those categories, the all-time classic Halloween movie winner is “Hocus Pocus”! Those three witches have a special place in everyone’s hearts. Thackery Binx, the cat, also makes the movie so enjoyable.
The final category was supernatural, and “The Conjuring” movies snatched that first place spot. These movies are full of horror and jump scares that will get the viewer’s hearts beating.
Now, everyone obviously needs something to munch on when watching. A question on the survey asked everyone what their favorite munchie was, and, of course, popcorn blew all the other snacks out of the water.
Munching on snacks and watching Halloween movies is a tradition that people have been doing for decades. Join in on the fun and check out these fan favorites!
