This isn’t your one milkshake, two straws type of shake. You’ll want to take in every sip of these. Senior Allison Sampson and Junior Emma Bowman set out to investigate the newest center of attention: The Nutrition Fix. Located on Main Street, students and teachers alike have been seen carrying the mysterious shakes in the mornings.

The shakes are meant to be a full meal replacement. Their Instagram claims that these shakes have 21 essential vitamins and minerals, 200-250 calories, 17-24g of protein, low carbs, low sugar (Stevia), and low fat. They are made from water, ice, and Herbalife protein powder but substitutions and extra additions can be made as well.

When asked about the inspiration for their business, the owners explained that their goal is to inspire customers to get active, eat healthier, and promote a healthier lifestyle, thus, prevent disease.

But what does healthy necessarily mean to the owners? They described it as not aiming to be the slimmest or most buff person in the room but the best version of yourself…as a person who is meeting their needs in a nutritional-efficient way. They wanted to create a business in our community in which all judgment and negativity disappear.

Upon walking in, customers are immediately introduced to an upbeat and friendly environment. The kind and helpful owners explained that they can make over 300 different shake flavors. The featured ones on the menu are the best sellers, and there are a whey lot of options. Fruity, chocolate, vanilla, and caramel lovers alike can be satisfied.

Sampson ordered the Cinnamon Toast Crunch flavor. She describes it as “tasting just like the cereal,” but believed that it could have included more of the cereal in the shake itself. Instead, it was decorated with a few pieces of the crunchy cinnamon squares on top.

She felt that the shake kept her full until lunch, which meant it served as a true meal replacement option for her. Sampson believed the price, at $7.00, was fair, as the shake did serve as an entire breakfast.

Bowman chose a classic flavor; birthday cake. This shake was electrified with bright sprinkles within and on top of the shake. She enjoyed the sweet vanilla taste and appreciated the size of the drink but was left still a bit hungry.

Both Bowman and Sampson agreed that a shake is an excellent choice for someone in a hurry but may not be the best option for an everyday meal. Sampson explained that there are other healthy ways to receive protein, such as through Greek yogurt or eggs.

The Nutrition Fix is definitely worth trying out in moderation. With so many flavors, it is hard to not return and try something new. The final verdict: it is a great choice for an occasional quick, nutritious breakfast before school or a workout. You may have 99 problems, but protein won’t be one!
