Emily Venick looks for a pass!

Seniors Emily and Kaylin Venick have recently made one of the biggest decisions in their ten year athletic career, committing to a school to continue playing basketball for the next four years. Both girls were showered with interest from multiple schools.

For Emily, a point guard, John Carroll University, Waynesburg University, West Virginia State, Bluefield State, Chatham University, Bryn Athyn University, Columbia International, Seton Hill, Saint Vincent College and Slippery Rock University were all options.

Kaylin, a shooting guard, sparked interest from John Carroll, Bluefield, West Virginia State, Seton Hill, Chatham, Washington and Jefferson College and Slippery Rock University.

The one that really caught their attention was Slippery Rock University.

“When we visited campus, it was a no brainer. It was the right fit in all aspects of education, as well as basketball,” says Emily Venick.

Looking forward to their freshman season, the girls are excited to meet and play with new people and coaches, as well as learn from the upperclassman on the team. Looking back on their past seasons with Trinity, however, brought nostalgia upon the girls.

“I will remember my senior season for the rest of my life. Getting to go out on the floor with my best friends everyday is a privilege not many school teams have. The group we had this year was different than any other team I have ever been on in my life. Not only did we make each other better every single day, but we did the extra for the person beside us, rather than for ourselves,” says E. Venick.

Coach Kathy McConnell-Miller was asked about her time coaching with the twins and how the girls contributed to the team.

“As sisters, they have a bond and a relationship on and off the floor that is visible in everything they do.  As teammates, they bring leadership, energy, enthusiasm and an exceptional work ethic to go with it!  I am blessed that I had the opportunity to be a part of their careers at Trinity,” says Coach Kathy.

The girls would like to thank Coach Kathy, Coach Poletti and Coach Bellville for everything they have done for them, as well as their teammates throughout their four years at Trinity High School and every single staff member that supported them. They especially want to thank their parents for always making the best decisions that gave them opportunities to get better and better and their little sister Riley, who has sat through hours and hours of basketball games and still continues to be their biggest fan.

The Hiller Newspaper staff wishes the twins the best of luck on their new journey!
