“The Nun” screams its way into theaters

“The Nun” is the fifth installment of “The Conjuring” series. It is a creepy series of horror movies that foreshadow the next film and keep the audience on their toes.

“The Conjuring” series is based on the real lives of Ed and Lorraine Warren and their crazy lives as world renowned ghost hunters. The Warrens are well-known around the ghost-hunting world and help families get the evil out of their home. They reveal the scariest parts of their ghost experiences  on the big screen.

The movie is based in Romania at a convent in circa 1952. In this story, a priest called Father Burke, a nun called Sister Irene, and a Canadian Frenchman named Frenchie investigate a convent that is anything but holy. They risk their lives, faith and soul to uncover a unholy secret that is kept by a malevolent spirit who dresses as a nun.

Starring in the film are Taissa Farmiga (Sister Irene), Bonnie Aaron (Sister Victoria/Valak), Demian Bichir (Fr. Burke) and Jonas Bloquet (Frenchie). 

The beginning of the movie is very intense as two nuns search for a demon nun, Valak, in abandoned parts of the convent. One of the nuns is taken and the other nun sacrifices herself before she can be taken.

Senior Hannah Klepsky said, “I can definitely say that, as a horror buff and someone who loves “The Conjuring” movies, it was very good.”

The movie was scary and kept the audience on their toes. Valak had the power to convert herself into people’s biggest fears and terrorize them to no end.

Senior Sean Pankopf said, “The movie was pretty scary and I got scared a few times, but it was a great movie. I would definitely recommend it to my friends.”

The actors played their roles very well by making it look like they were actually scared. The music added to the suspense of the film and made it a whole new level of creepy. The scenes were really dark and mysterious and left the audience guessing what would happen next.

People who love horror movies, especially fans of  “The Conjuring” series, should definitely check this film out. To date, it is the creepiest chapter of this chain of horror movies.
