Student of the Month: October

Jackson MacTaggart

It is my pleasure to nominate Jackson MacTaggart as THS Student of the Month for October.

I have known Jackson throughout his high school career and have watched him put forth a 100% work ethic in everything that he does from academics to extra-curricular activities to community service. Jackson is a Commended National Merit Finalist as well as having earned the level of Distinction as an AP Scholar. He was elected to the position of Historian in the National Honor Society.

Jackson continues to have a rigorous schedule maintaining an “A” average. In addition to his academics, Jackson is a member of the Trinity Model United Nations Team, the Academic League and  the steering committee for INSPIRE – a youth voter registration project sponsored by the PA Governor’s Office. This student centered committee is working to help Trinity HS achieve the PA Governor’s Civic Award given in May. As a participant in PJAS, he has earned 1st places in both the regional and state levels. His community service is varies from weekly mentoring students with spinal cord injuries to weekly volunteering with the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh.

Jackson loves to learn and it is common to hear him have discussions with his friends and teachers about current events. Most of all, Jackson is a courteous young man who has time for everyone – especially if his help is needed.  He goes through the day as if everything is fine and easy, never complaining; he is thoughtful and kind to all. Jackson’s plans are to major in astrophysics and aerospace engineering. Jackson MacTaggart is an obvious choice for THS Student of the Month.
